Living in NYC, I've always enjoyed watching the Yankees lose and hearing the entire city sigh in depression and frustration. How could they lose with a payroll and a super-star lineup? Because they suck. And I enjoyed it even more if it was at the hands of the Boston Red Sox.My colleague and co-founder, Tom, is one of the poor, masochistic souls who enjoy watching the Yankees blow it each year. We may have different tastes in baseball teams, but one thing we can both agree on is a great steak. So we decided to pit our teams against one another and wager steak nights in the process. Win or lose, we get to watch baseball and eat steak.
So our bets for the 2009 Season are as follows:
-The team who wins the division will win a steak dinner at Peter Lugers. If neither wins the division, whoever wins the AL Wildcard will win the bet. If neither gets the Wildcard, then we split the dinner.
-Best record at the All-Star break wins a steak dinner.
-First player on either team to hit 20 HRs gets a steak lunch.
-First player on either team to hit 80 RBIs gets a steak lunch.
-First pitcher on either team to win 15 games gets a steak lunch.
-There are 3 wildcards that will win a steak dinner. First player to hit a grand slam, first player to hit for the cycle, and first player to pitch a no-hitter.
This allows us to spread our steak lunches and dinners throughout the entire season instead of all at once.
Now you may have noticed that the only specific steak house that was mentioned was Peter Lugers, located in Brooklyn. The first time I ate at Peter Lugers Steak House I had psychadelic dreams that night. It was the best meal that I have ever had in my life. We decided to take a tour of the other well-known steak houses in the city and see how they compared to Peter Lugers. And thus this blog was born. Hopefully our reviews will be helpful to anyone wanting a great steak in New York City.
Go Sox!
I'll admit that ARod is a little gay & self obsessed, but after reading this blog I'm beginning to think that so are you & Tom!
ReplyDeleteI do hope the Red Suxs lose & my baby wins more steak bets because we've got a baby to feed.
You do have a baby to feed...and let's not forget about little Leo.
